Liquid cooling

Circulating fluid does not mean safe cooling

A flow switch reading OK is no guarantee of thermal capacity. Understand delta T, dew point, coolant and the failure modes of liquid cooling.

Circulating fluid does not mean safe cooling

In VACON® NX Liquid Cooled systems it is common to trust the flow switch as proof of cooling. But loss of thermal capacity through corrosion, contamination or fouling can occur while the fluid circulates normally.

  • Monitor delta T between inlet and return, not just flow
  • Track coolant pH, conductivity, chlorides and particles
  • Establish a baseline for future comparison
Coolant is a critical availability item, not a simple auxiliary fluid.
